Makalu Base Camp trek is a hidden gem located between the mighty Mt Everest and Kanchenjunga range in the barely traveled east of Nepal. This trek is a great opportunity for adventure trekkers who are willing to go away from crowded trails and explore Nepal’s most beautiful Makalu Barun National Park – the heart of  Mt Maklau (8485m)- world’s 5th highest mountain.

Trekking to Makalu Base Camp is a true off the beaten track experience. Only a hand-ful of trekkers venture out to the remote Makalu Region. The altitude could be challenging during the trek but the rest days in between will allow you to acclimatize and rest your tired muscles. This trek requires good fitness level and determination as there are very basic facilities during this journey. We will be accompanied by a well equipped team including the kitchen staff and porters for the logistics of this trek. We begin our adventure after a scenic flight to a small air strip in Tumlingtar followed by a jeep drive to the village of Num. Initially we will be trekking through terraced farmlands, lush forests, Rai & Sherpa villages in the beautiful Makalu Barun Valley. We will then trek through alpine landscapes, high altitude yak pastures, and glaciers all the way to the Makalu Base Camp. The flora, fauna and endangered animals like the Red Panda makes this destination a paradise for plants and animals enthusiasts. The breathtaking views of +8000m Himalayan peaks: Mt Everest, South face of Mt Makalu, Mt Kanchenjunga and other Himalayan Vistas, will fill you with awe. Really quiet trails, villages frozen in time, lush forests, rare flora and fauna, amazing views of Himalayan ranges and glaciers, unique culture & way of life, and much more makes Makalu Base Camp Trek an adventure of a life time.
